Streaming TV services will kill terrestrial television

UPC switches off analog TV channels

The cable network operator UPC wants to switch off analog cable television. However, the company does not want to reveal when exactly. "In a few years, all TV programs at UPC will also be broadcast completely digitally. In order to enable our customers to make a smooth switchover, the analogue offer will be reduced gradually," the press release said.

Analog TV channels are switched off

For customers who still watch analog TV, this means a reduction of six to eight TV channels, depending on the region. Analog TV customers will be informed about these changes in a timely manner by letter and ticker. The reduction in channels will start at the end of April.

Nothing will change for UPC customers who already exclusively use UPC digital television. TV channels broadcast in analogue are still available digitally and unencrypted.
