Gatwick Airport is an international airport located near Crawley in south east England, 47.5 km south of central London. It is the second largest airport in terms of total passenger numbers in the United Kingdom, behind Heathrow Airport. Gatwick is the ninth busiest airport in Europe and occupies a total of 674 hectares (1,670 hectares). Gatwick began as an air base in the late 1920s. It has been used for passenger flights since 1933.
It serves as a single runway airport with a length of 3,316 m (10,879 ft). An additional runway is accessible, but due to its similarity to the primary runway, it can only be used when it is not in use. In 2018, 46.1 million travelers passed through the airport, an increase of 1.1 percent compared to 2017.

Short-term parking at the North Terminal is in parking lot 5. The south terminal is in parking lots 1, 2 and 3.
Long-term parkingHighly tourist season travelers or anyone who leaves for a long period of time benefit from the long-term parking spaces with an excellent price-performance ratio. Once parked, go to a bus stop before hopping on the free shuttle bus that will take you straight to the terminal. It usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes to get to the South Terminal and 7-12 minutes to get to the North Terminal, and you can go straight to check-in. Please note that shuttles can be busier than normal during the main holidays. As soon as you get up, hop on one of the regular shuttle buses to the long-term car park. The shuttle buses run day and night, which is ideal if you are on a late night trip. All official Long Stay car parks are well equipped, securely fenced off and routinely patrolled by Gatwick security officers. Disabled parking spacesBlue Badge Bays are available in Gatwick Long and Short Stay car parks at both the North and South Terminals. For easy, fair access to the arrivals area, Blue Badge owners can also take advantage of discounts on Premium Parking when parking for less than four hours.
