The ENERGY CHALLENGE 2016 relies on elements such as a roadshow, competitions, challenges between celebrities, an energy playground, energy spinning. The Energie-Villages offer free cultural events as a supporting program.
An app for smartphones completes the ENERGY CHALLENGE. This enables those interested in a playful way to test their energy knowledge or to create an energy profile and to compare themselves with energy ambassadors such as the musician Stress, Xherdan Shaqiri, Carolina Müller-Möhl, Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg. All users could play for attractive prizes, their own savings efforts could also be confirmed and the energy saved could be donated to a city. The best city wins and receives the living box as the main prize in Bern.

The SwissEnergy program launched by the Federal Council in 2001 aims to increase energy efficiency and the share of renewable energies. This is intended to make a significant contribution to the achievement of energy and climate policy goals. The program focuses on raising awareness, information and advice, training and further education as well as quality assurance in various areas. In particular, obstacles are to be removed that prevent the exploitation of the potential of energy efficiency and renewable energies. On the one hand, EnergieSchweiz supports the implementation of legal regulations, funding programs and market-based instruments of energy and climate policy. On the other hand, EnergieSchweiz promotes the implementation of voluntary initiatives in households, communities and the economy with innovative projects, partnerships, advisory initiatives and other activities. Since 2011, EnergieSchweiz has been addressing end consumers more directly. Together with actors from the economy, administration and other organizations, initiatives and campaigns are supported.
