Content: The students Benny and Christopher get to know each other at a football game. Even Benny's Latino parents don't mind the young men going out together and traveling together on vacation. Things quickly get serious between them. But they do not yet know that an almost forgotten, tragic accident binds their two families together. And Akron, Ohio, isn't big enough to keep secrets forever. This will put their growing relationship to the test.

In their joint directorial debut, producers Sasha King and Brian O'Donnell let the audience feel every step that the lovers take despite bad omens. The basic constellation may be reminiscent of `` Romeo and Juliet '', but the filmmakers allow both families to deal with their pain in their own way. Last but not least, it is the convincing actors and the belief in love that make '' Akron '' a poignant and romantic family drama.
